Taken a year ago, three Corellas in a dead tree - most Cockatoos and Parrots nest in hollow branches of dead eucalypts. Corellas congregate in large flocks and have sentries posted so that when any threat approaches, including photographers, a cacophony of screaching erupts, this is one place on earth where you can hear the sun rise as the birds welcome the day.
These Southern Western Rosellas are now an endangered species, their territory ( nesting trees ) is being taken over by their cousins the Northern Western Rosella.
