Striated Pardalote

Scientific name: Pardalotus striatus
Family: Pardalotidae
Order: Passeriformes

The Striated Pardalote is more common than people usually think, with its call the first indication of the presence of this brightly coloured little bird. There is considerable variation in plumage characteristics across the range of this species. All birds have white eyebrows with a yellow spot in front of the eye, olive-grey backs and a white stripe in the wing. In different parts of the country, the wing stripe may be narrow or wide, the coloured spot at the front end of this stripe may be red or yellow, and the black crown may have or lack fine white stripes. Both male and female are similar in plumage. Young birds also resemble the adults, but are notably paler, particularly on the crown and face.
The Striated Pardalote is found throughout most of Australia, being absent only from the most arid areas. Like other species of pardalotes, it is found only in Australia.

Hi Jon,

The colors of this bird are amazing. I love the pose showing him off so well. Super sharp details of the beautiful wings and plummage. What strange positions his feet are in!

Hello Jon,
I missed the Striated Pardelot one when I was in OZ, so it's nice to see this fine capture with good sharpness, pose and POV. Looks like the light was against you a bit.
Even so its a great image and thanks for sharing it,

Hi Jon,
Just amazing birds you got there down under. This looks like our yellow wagtail that has been dramatically shortened. Nice pose and very sharp details. Great work.

Hallo Jon
What a delightful and colourful image of this Striated Pardalote. This is a beautiful bird and you have captured it in a perfect close-up pose. The different coloured of layered plumage is vivid and very bright and the details of the beak and sharp nails on its paws are displayed well. It is a pity that the dark eye is slightly hidden away in the black plumage around the eye area. This is nevertheless a beautiful bird with lovely features. The framing and composition is great. A pleasant image with great natural colours and light.Thank you very much for sharing. I enjoyed this one, as this is a lovely bird.
Kind regards
Anna
