[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Imperial Hairstreak (Jalmenus evagoras) is a medium sized butterfly found though much of coastal southeastern Australia. They have a wingspan of 37mm and often spend a lot of time flying around their host plants that the pupae feed on.

I took this shot near Penrith where the host is Black Wattle (Acacia mearnsii). The species is not very common but seem to hang around host plants in small groups or colonies. So I was pleased to find a small colony and waiting patiently, eventually this female came back and landed on a frond and opened her wings.

Hi Chris,
very nice catch, I like how the wings spread diagonal across your canvas. Nice seeing all the different textures in this composition. POV, sharpness and colors are great.

Hello Chris.

Excellent picture, nice composition and colors.

Regards.
Jose Luis.

Well taken, good detail. Now if you could just pack some of them beauties up and send my way, it will be a couple of more months before we see butterflies.

Hello Chris,
This is a super shot of an attractive hairstreak.
This is sharp and well composed with good lighting. Ulla complains that she can't get a decent bokeh BG with her S2, but this Bg is first class.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Chris,
An excellent shot on this Imperial Hairstreak. I like this unique POV here. I am amazed at how much DOF you have at f5.0 to get so much in good detail. Nice work!

Hello Chris,
What a beautiful Hairstreak in a nice pose you've captured here on the fern. - I'm rather disappointed that we didn't see more butterflies when we were in Australia, but we were probably a bit early in November. - Excellent shot showing sharp details and nice colours. Yes, I like the bokeh too!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Chris,
you have captured this butterfly in a good composition
with very good details and exposure.
The colours are lovely and the shallow DOF s also good,
the main subject standout well from the BG.
Well done, mf.
