Hi Steve and Ioana, this is very good. You don't just have a still life here with this rock. I really like that frothing surf pulling up that sand. This is an active dangerous beach from the looks of it. The colours of the sand, rock and sediment filled water are awesome.

A very ancient and wild looking spot, the colour of that sandstone is fantastic. Great compo and light, the swirling water adds a nice touch of drama too. The Albatross's are a real bonus too, shame they couldn't have been a bit bigger!

Hi Steve

Indeed a very impressive looking sandstone sculpture. Seems like there might be quite a number of these fascinating formations scattered around this beach.

The composition looks fine even though you did not stick to conventional 1/3 rules (at least as far as the horizon are concerned anyway) since the actual sandstone sculpture is pretty much to the vertical 1/3 axis. Heck, I just love it when so called compositional rules are broken and the photo still has visual appeal and aesthetic beauty. Not because I am a nonconformist by any means, but just to prove that photography is a living art and one cannot be totally bound by rules, but the situation needs to dictate the adherence too or freedom from such rules. I think the ±50/50 balance between the churning water and the cloudy sky worked well here. The colours are well saturated and the extended DOF ensured great details throughout the total range of the photo. The slowish shutter speed did well to show some movement in the water at the bottom of the shot while it also aided in good saturation and contrasts.

I like the subject, color, sharpness and slowish shutter speed you chose here. I may have been tempted to crop a bit off the top to raise the horizon line and rotate a bit to the right to straighten it.
