These colourful Rainbow Lorikeets are wild birds feeding at my friends bird feeder in her backyard. Rainbow Lorikeets are brightly coloured, beautiful birds that are becoming more common in the area I live in Australia.
They are easily spotted as they are very noisy and screech constantly. Added to this they are usually in a flock of other lorikeets and tend to be very "social" which amplifies the sound even more.
They are relatively common right along the east coast of Australia from Queensland through NSW and Victoria and into South Australia. |

Colourful indeed, and extremely noisy.
The normal appearance of these birds seems to be a shrieking, colourful, arrow in the air so it's nice to see a good view of them stationary for a change.
Lovely colours in this presentation.
Belissimas cores. Fascinante. Foco valorizando a perfeição da natureza. Pena que o prato de alimento sobrepos-se à completude da ave.
Hi Michelle!

This is a beautiful shot! I tried photographing some lorikeets recently and just couldn't cause they escape before I get anywhere near them! The green background looks very nice and seems to make this picture somewhat dense. Great!
Hello Michelle! What colours! We're still in the midst of white and maybe a little brown here in Ontario Canada. Wonderful capture, they don't stay for long, do they? I love the way the one is looking so angrily at the other, saying, "that's my treat, mate!" Good job!
