This is a male Yellow-spotted Blue (Candalides xanthospilos), I posted a female earlier here (here).

A locally common species that is distributed through the coastal woodland of eastern Australia. They have a wingspan of 26mm and fly from September to February. They often hang around their larval food plant of the Genus Pimelea. I found this one perching on an emerging fern frond at Thirlmere Lakes National Park.

Hello Chris,
a beautiful picture of this attractive small butterfly and a very aesthetic composition with nice colours. Exact focus and sufficient details although the specimen is only moderately magnified.

This Yellow-spotted Blue is simply AMAZING. Perfect focus and wonderful details!!! Fantastic vivid colours. The fern frond brights like diamonds! DOF is excellent and BG is lovely.
