[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The common garden snail, Helix aspersa, belongs to a group of organisms called Gastropods. They are part of a larger group called Molluscs, which includes clams, oysters and shellfish. Typically they have a soft body with a protective hard outer shell.
For the gardener these are seen as a pest and there is now encouragement to introduce natural predators, such as lizards, birds, possums, frogs and centipedes to control populations, rather than poisons.
