This was the other shot I took of the Praying Mantis perched on the Yucca plant in the back garden, thankfully on this shot as apposed to the Previous post he/she decided to put on a pose rather then hide under the leaf.

Details; Shot Raw converted to Jpeg, cropped, sharpened and framed for posting, I did add 7% saturation in photo studio.

wow awesome picture , great sharpness and detail , as well the background blur is very natural with good color variations ,especially the white edges of the grass they tend to draw my eyes back to the praying mantis.

the pose facing the camera is great too .

Hi Rick

You have really captured the spirit of this mantis - your image tells us such a lot about the insect - the pose and POV are great - exceptional detail and colour too.

Another nice portrait Richard, and without a fill-in flash this time, so at least I'm not confused! A very pleasant green-on-green composition my friend.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Rick,

Nice shot, good composition, focus and exposure. You caught the little beast at just the right moment too.

Now that I've been on this site for a while, I'm getting a little better feel for the point system and I've decided to give 1 point for "good" photos and reserve the 2 point assessment only for exceptionally good photos, so please don't think I'm liking your photos less, I've simply gone to a different way of giving points. I feel that the main focus here should be one of sharing informative photos and giving critical feedback rather than just trying to accumulate more points. I hope others will look at my photos in the same manner.

Thanks,
John

Hello Rick,
Fine macro work has been done, and the result is impressive!
The insect really stands out with fine details, even the long antennas are captured with good sharpness...
Good point of view and the subject is well framed!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Rick, soft greens, with those red eyes. Very nice colour tones in this shot of your Preying Mantis. The composition works well. I like the pose and I like the antennae stretching up to the upper left. Very fine detail on the mantis. Well done.

Thanks, John

Hi Richard,
had a peak at your portfolio and I'm impressed. You showing a wonderful selection of animals.
This one is one of my favorite, as I think those Mantises are very interesting.
It looks like it loves getting its picture taken, as it poses so nicely for you. The details are nice and sharp and you did an excellent job on the composition.
