[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Rainbow Lorikeet is a spectacular native bird which is found in most parts of Australia, except in the arid desert areas. It feeds on the flowers and nectar of native trees and shrubs and sometimes cultivated fruits. Its call is a high pitched chattering and screeching noise which can be quite deafening when heard in large flocks in the early morning or evening. The vibrant colours of this bird make it an instant favorite with anyone who sees it. Here it is seen feasting on the nectar of the Metrosideros thomasii.
