[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Lesser Wanderer (Danaus chrysippus) is found throughout the Australian continent, though it only occurs sporadically south of Sydney in the south east. This species is known as the Plain Tiger in Asia, the Middle East and southern Europe; and the African Monarch in Africa.
I have only seen a couple of times and thus I was quite pleased to be able to literally walk up to and grab a dozen shots on this occasion.
In the south-east they fly between September and May and are usually found in very open woodland, disturbed lands and heathland. They produce several generations each year in tropical parts of the continent, but are generally just nomadic visitors to the south east.
They have a wingspan of 60mm.

Hello Chris,
A great capture of D. chryssipus in a half open-wing pose, the sharpness and DOF being superb thanks to the use of a high aperture. The OOF natural BG sets it off really well.
