Ok I’ve tried really hard not to inflect another picture of a Brahminy Kite on you, but it’s been nearly three weeks now and I just couldn’t help myself.

This if you haven’t already guessed is a favourite raptor of mine, and is a regular visitor to the Port of Brisbane Wetlands.

I took this early on Monday morning at about 07:15am; I won’t repeat all the details on these Kites please refer to my previous postings (all 5 of them) for that information.

Details; Shot Raw converted to Jpeg, cropped slightly and re-sized and sharpened for posting.

Lovely capture - in flight, at that. The exposure is terrific, and the catchlight is superb.

The composition, I think, is nailed...flying the clear blue skies...

I love being able to see his talons, how they are tucked away (for lack of a better term - and I'm still struggling with words - but it's getting better), and the sharpness of his beak.

Beautiful in-flight capture.

Hi Rick

Excellent eye contact and detail here. The kite is well placed in the frame and the lighting is excellent too.

James

Pat

Hello Rick,

I wouldn't apologise for posting this shot!
The kite is perfectly placed with its wings in a lovely 'v' shape and its legs neatly tucked away. Even up there, there is good eye contact and the light provides a glowing sheen.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Rick
Nice inflight shot with nice detail but i feel you have not utilized your new kits full potential ( Lucky bugger would you like to swap wives ) Inflight setting i would use f2.8 and 1/3000 with this lens but thats depending on light conditions and finding the right balance is a rewarding challenge for all of us

Hi Richard

Another great in-flight shot of the Brahminy Kite. You show good details of the raptor and the space left at the bottom gave this shot a feeling of height.

Well done and TFS.

Hello Rick,
I can't get tired of seeing fine images of this beautiful raptor.
This is a fine in-flight of the Brahminy Kite taken from a great POV with the wings on the up-stroke in great lighting. It shows nice and sharply against a fine blue sky.
I saw this species only once in Queensland.
TFS this beauty,
Regards,
Ivan

Really like the early light & color Richard.
Nice detail, DOF, pose, and POV here..
Well done,
Howard
