Plover Attack
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Plovers are adamant that their nest site is out of bound to anybody. It is secrete ground which is fervently defended. I spotted this Lady sitting in an open grass patch and could not resist sneaking in and taking a pot-shot at her. She was not a happy girl at my intrusion into her space and I don’t blame her. She settled down after a while and returned to her nest and allowed me to come within a meter of her, albeit I had to get down and dirty and crawled onto my belly.
Plovers are found throughout the world, there are about 40 species in the subfamily, most of them called "plover" or "dotterel". This plover is a Masked Lapwing or Spur-winged Plover. |
