Lake Moogerah

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Beautiful Lake Moogerah is in the heart of the Scenic Rim, and is one of South East Queensland Country's most picturesque areas only one hours’ drive from Brisbane and less than two hours from the Gold Coast.
My wife and I spent three days at Queen Mary Fall last weekend and stopped of at the Lake on the way home, and this could easily become a favourite place of mine the bird life is amazing.
We had just arrived and were setting up the flask of hot water to make a cup of tea when I looked up to see what I thought was a wedge tailed eagle having a go at a White bellied sea eagle.
Now you properly wondering why I posted a picture of the lake and not the birds, well I did rush over to the car grab the camera knowing I would only have a couple of seconds to get a shot.
In the rush to get something I decided to hand hold the 400mm big mistake, by this time the two birds were almost directly above me I managed to fire of about six shots then promptly compressed a disk in the back of my neck, and to cap it all the picture wasn’t that great, hence I’ve posted it in the w/s.
Now 5 days after the event and being signed of work and numerous pain killers and hot packs I’m feeling some what better, so the morel to this story “don’t rush” take your time and if the wife has taken the time to make a great cup of tea, then sit down and enjoy it.
Lake Moogerah, formed by Moogerah Dam, is a water supply and irrigation dam on Reynold's Creek, a tributary of the Bremer River in Southeast Queensland's Fassifern Valley. The lake is used for recreation, fishing and camping.
It is located around 60 km southwest of Ipswich, and about 60 minutes drive from Brisbane. Boonah is the nearest town, about 15 km from the lake.
Construction on the dam began in 1959, although land for the project was resumed as early as 1916 [3]. Moogerah Dam was completed in 1961 as the central catchment of the Warrill Valley Water Supply Scheme. The dam wall at Lake Moogerah allows access to Mt Edwards in Moogerah Peaks National Park.
The dam supplies drinking water to the towns of Boonah and Ipswich, although the main user is the Swanbank Power Station. It also supplies irrigation water to small crop farms in the Fassifern Valley.

Hi Rick,
Photography is a dangerous hobby. For you it was eagles, for me it was waterfalls! Hope the neck is better. A beautiful beautiful shot of this lake - only one example of how gorgeous Australia is. I love the blues of the sky and water, the mountains with the pretty clouds above them, and the wonderful foreground. The lone tree frames the picture nicely. A fantastic composition.

Hi Rick!
I think this is a striking landscape.
The composition is very lovely, with just the right amount of water, mountains and sky. The details are very clear and the light is just great.
The tree just brings out the beauty so much more!
TFS this very soothing, yet grandiose scenery.
Cheers!
Goldy
