The Australian Raven is one of the most common birds found in Australia. Its fierce, menacing looks hide what is really a cowardly scavenger.

The Australian Raven is quite intelligent and has expressed problem-solving skills, in their use of tools and teamwork to gain food and distract rival birds.

Excellent in-flight, you picked the right moment, and caught him "in the act" too.
Gosh, I don't know whether to be frustrated that I haven't yet managed any even half-good bird in-flight shot (not for lack of trying), or be heartened that apparently it is possible with a 70-200 mm lense (Sigma in my case though). I think I'll go with the latter ... ;-
Very well done!

Hi Chi, very nice shot. I love the feeling of movement and I really like the beak grasping the berry? I don't think they are cowardly, I think they have a good grasp on survival, they are very intelligent birds.

Great shot.

Hello Chi,

I think this is a great shot and you captured this fast flying bird quite nicely. I do think parts of the bird (under the wings, the feet) are underexposed. I fixed you a nice workshop, but I can't upload it as you obviously don't allow workshops to be posted. :( The food in the beak of the bird is a great bonus! And you even managed to get a catchlight. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Hi Chi,
Excellent job here!. Great stop action shot with alot of good detail. Looks like he might have stole your marble????
Scott

Hi Chi... fantastic shot! You truly captured this fellow in action stealing the prize. I like the solid black appearance on everywhere except the head; keeps the focus on the important area. Very nicely done! :-)

Birds as dark as these are difficult to capture right because you can't usually see much detail in the feathers. The light on this one is pretty good, though, showing a lot of detail on the head and the eye. The food in it's mouth is a bonus.
