[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Brown Falcon (Falco bergigora) can be found in open country throughout the Australian continent and is one of the most adaptive of the Australian birds of prey. The species comes in several forms with the smallest and pale brown form (pictured here) being found in the arid centre of the continent.
In flight they have a characteristic laboured overarm rowing action, which gives the impression of a sluggish bird. However, once the falcon has decided to chase a prey item, its flight is transformed into that of a swift and agile predator, nearly equalling the speed of the Peregrine.
Prey can consist of birds up to the size of cockatoos, lizards, snakes and smaller mammals.
We found this sitting in a dead shrub on top a small sand dune on the eastern side of the Strezlecki desert, near Merty Merty.

Chris, there seems to be some noise on the bg, but that can be easily removed.

I like composition and pose. A very beautiful bird, a very nice photo. Great colors and contrast.

Hi Chris,
The pose is very nice. The composition and POV are very good.
I like the colours too. It's a some noise in the BG.
Very well done.

Nice shot Chris!
Great framing and colours. The focus however seems to be not very good though maybe it's just blurring made by camera shake.
Anyway, it's interesing shot and I like it very much.

Proud and beautifull. I like wide open composition with blue sky. Good pose and vigilant eye.

Hi Chris

Brilliant shot. You have composed this extremely well. Nice colours and use of light. Sharpness and detail are spot on. Just a bit of noise in the BG. Well done. Thanks.
