[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This bird lives on the shore of the crater lake Barrine in the Atherton Tablelands SW of Cairns.
The lake is crystal clear, rich of fish and surrounded by tropical rainforest.
Pelicans are originally sea orientated but you can also find them inland and I even saw some more than 1000 km away from the coast in non permanent floodplains or shallow and saltie lakes. They seem to live on opportunities which is not a bad habit in times like today. Nearby the rest place I took this photo there is a highly recommended restaurant at the boat cruising pier of Lake Barrine.
