[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In Australia monitor lizards are also called Goanas.
Nest to picnic grounds in some National Parks they can grow rather big (fat)

From Wikipedia:
Australian (and to an extent Australasian) monitor lizards belonging to the Varanus genus are called Goannas. The name presumed to be derived from iguana, as early European settlers likened them to the South American lizards. There are around 20 species of goanna, 15 of which are unique to Australia. They are a varied group of carnivorous reptiles that range greatly in size and fill several ecological niches. The Goanna features prominently in Aboriginal Mythology and Australian folklore.
