[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This species is one of the exceptions to the tendency for Satyr butterflies to look dowdy.
This Sword-grass brown (Tisiphone abeone) was photographed in a small nature reserve in Manly Vale, a suburb of Sydney. I used my wife's camera, her Canon Powershot S2 IS, which is very handy.
Most of the specimens of this Butterfly appear to fade and get worn very quickly, which makes this individual a lucky find. At first I thought it was a Nymphalid, but the eye markings, characteristic of Satyrs, soon made me change my mind.
It is found from Southern Queensland to SE Australia in various forms.

Hallo Ivan,
a fine capture of this - I think - freshly hatched Satyride presenting its nice wing colour pattern. Brilliant colours with excellent contrast. Thank you for posting.
Best wishes,
Peter

Ivan,
Good post. Everything is okay for me except for a minor detail concerning the cropping which in case of changing will give you a better compo plus you will get rid of the distracting over exposed leaf down to the right.
A little workshop...
Regards
Annick

Hello Ivan,
Well, finally a few minutes of free time to comment some pictures ;)
This is really nice photo. I like the nataral and amazing combination of colours in this butterfly species.
On the other hand I would use some noise reduction to better expose the main object :)
Best greetings,
Radomir

Beautiful black! Great clarity and composition. Interesting butterfly.
