[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Australian Bush is difficult to photograph. It is such a busy, complex mess. It is full of textures, full of contrasts and high dynamic range. Yet, to walk through and to immerse yourself in it,is to love it. It feels so old. The Austalian light can be stark even early and late in the day. Here a bushfire has added to the complexity by producing black tree-trunks. This is a forest track at the base of the Grampians in Western Victoria. The Grampians are the southern tip/remnants of the Great Dividing Range that extends from Far North Queensland to Southern Victoria. They emerge from the great lava plains of Western Victoria and hence are a great attraction. A wonderous place.

It's really a nice place and nice backlight to use for the scene. However I don't think that this PS work was necessary here. It's nice as it is without any post-production...

Haviing the light at the far end of the road is of course what makes this image special. Exposure seems well managed. I'm not sure about the top. Something seems unnatural there.

Its great to see a photo of home and what a nice shot it is. I love the gum trees, especially the way they sprout branch straight out of the tree trunk after a fire(like the one on the middle right). Nice you captured the bush well,

A glimps of the fresh leaves after the fire has added to the overall contrast of this picture. I also concur that the dark trunks have added a little more drama. Well done

This is a beautiful picture of the bush. Like you said, it's very difficult to photograph but I think you did a good job of it. I like that you were able to make everything but the leaves of the gum trees into black silohettes, so the colors of the rest of the forest could show through.
