One of the more robust members of the Australian damselfly fauna is this beautiful Whitewater Rockmaster (Diphlebia lestoides). This species comes from the Family Diphlebiidae which is distributed though Southeast Asia and eastern Australia.

Whitewater Rockmaster is distributed along rocky streams from central eastern Queensland to Victoria. This one was captured along Glenbrook Creek in Blue Mountains National Park.

Damselflies are supposed to be seen with their wings closed, Chris, so how come you shot this one with open wings :-)?
Excellent capture from a very impressive point of view. Sharp focus and beautiful blue colour. The mossy looking rock provides good backdrop for this shot.
Thanks and bye.

Hi Chris,
What a great shot of this wonderful damselfly! At first sight I though it was the Emperor, the same bright blue colour. Beautiful wings with the white bands across.

Hi Chris,
This must be one of the damselfly species that rests with its wings open like a Hawker or Chaser.
The blue coloration is striking and your shot is well presented and sharp.
TFS, regards, Ivan

Hi Chris,
that's such a wonderful damsel - I love the colours so much. I wasn't sure if it is a small dragonfly or a big damselfly.
Anyway I like it very much, thanks and greetings

Hello Chris,
I like pictures like this one where a beautiful dragonly or another insect rests on a rock which itself shows interesting surface structures but does not really distract from the main activist. Outline and venation of the wings can be clearly seen but also the structures behind. Well composed and nice colours.
Best wishes, Peter
