TERMINALIA CATAPPA - TROPICAL ALMOND.

In Fiji it is known as Tavola Tivi. It belongs to the combretum family.

When I first saw this tree on Mana Island, Fiji, I really fell for it. It is a big tree and there were many of them on the island. I loved how the sun would shine through their leaves, which seemed be a variety of green, yellow and red colours and they would really glisten against the blue sky.

It thrives as an ornamental tree in many tropical cities in the world and it is also known in other countries as: Badamier, Java almond, Amandier de Cayenne, Tropical almond, Wild almond, Indian almond, Myrobalan, Malabar almond, Singapore almond, Ketapang, Huu kwang, Sea almond, Aobateishi, West Indian almond, amandel huu kwang and in Fiji – Tavola Tivi.

Tropical almond is a large deciduous stately tree, originally from India, growing up to 90 feet tall with horizontal whorls of branches offering clusters of foot long, obovate leaves that turn pink-red to red - yellow before falling.

I too like how the sun shines through the leaves. The leaves colours look great against the blue sky.

Nicely compose, although I must say this picture just doens't do something for me. Colors are nice, but I do think parts are underexposed. TFS!

great composition with the back lighting thru the trees. Greats colors, with nice detail. That is a hard shot with the broad exposure range.

Janice, I like the mixture between light and dark shades.

A simple and effective picture - that's great.

Great contrast, pov and sharpness.

This is defiantly your style Janice and your perfecting it. Great use of natural light as it filters through the leaves. Composition is hurt slightly by the cropped leaf on top. Good detail and exposure. 6/10 Well done.
