Hello Achim,
strange no one commented the image yet. I think it's a really good image of this sea snake. I think it a genus not many people know about. Nor do I, but with this image I will look for more information on the web.

Hi Achim,
Just in case anyone was wondering, this is the Sea Krait or Banded Sea Snake (Laticauda colubrina). and yes, this is a great capture of this venomous snake when it is out of the water, you can see the flattened back end of the tail that helps this animal propell itself through the water when not on land.
Very interesting pic. Very intersting tio look at the flatened tail (as pointed out by AnimalExplorer.

I had a look over your gallery and this photo caught my eye.
It's not everyday that we see a sea-snake on TN so thanks for sharing!
The details and colors here are very nice and the pose of the snake is terrific!
I really love those marking on its skin as well as the very well visible flattened tail.
