Getting Closer

Here is a photo of two Galapagos Tortoises that I saw at the Auckland Zoo last year. He commenced the mating ritual that many of us spectators found very interesting, but he was taking a long time.

You can see the first stage here as Mr Galapagos Tortoise was giving Mrs Galapagos Tortoise a Loving Nudge

And you can see the second stage as Mr Galapagos Tortoise was giving Mrs Galapagos Tortoise a Gentle Touch

Now, at stage 3 he is the closest he has been for a while. Mrs Galapagos Tortoise was very patient. But to be honest, he was so slow, many of us, me included, gave up and left him to it.

Hej Janice,
a well composed and fine picture with fine details.
Even the simple colours are very nice.
Good POV and pose.
Well done, my friend.

It's a rainy summer so far :-(

Hi Janice,
Well, that intimate moment, -that become not so intimate-, would last as longer as the animals would like to!
Very good the close approach got into this image.
It's remarkable the way the skin of this tortoises looks like, so dry and textured at the same time.
Well done and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Hello Janice

A very well focused image of these two.I hear tell that as soon as you spectators left the tortoise was heard to say "good we're finally alone".Very well illuminated with excellent sharpness of details. The textures are very visible.TFS
