Ficus elastica.
Rubber Tree
Family: Moraceae

Ficus elastica is the classic Rubber Tree, Rubber Plant or India Rubber Plant.
Native to India and Malaysia, it is among the oldest plants used as houseplants worldwide.

Rubber plant is a name for any plant that yields rubber, specifically the India-rubber tree (Ficus elastica), an Asian fig. It is a broadleaf evergreen tree with shiny, leathery, oval leaves, whose Elastica leaves and stems and even wood 'bleed' white sticky sap when broken or damaged from which rubber can be made. Some people are allergic to this sap when applied to the skin.

Like most ficus, Ficus elastica is a large tree, growing to 40-50 feet tall and even wider on its spreading branches held up by aerial roots which become multiple trunks.

I love it when the leaves open and they appear out of this attractive pink covering like sails unfurling on a yacht.

Ficus is in Polish called Fikus ;-) It is very popular in Poland pland which is cultivated for fun in houses. I like its skinny leaves and colours. You took great picture Janice, very nice composition and POV - Ficus looks like sail boat ;-)

I am not sure about this shot Janice, yes I like the subtle detail and shade of the leaf and effective DOF to lift it from the Bg. I'm not sure about the POV and close composition. Anyhow well done and TFS.
