"Crying cockles and mussels, alive, alive-O!"
I saw these mussels for sale at a fish bazaar yesterday. I was attracted to their colours and the jet sprays of water shooting over them all the time. We didn't buy any.
I have sharpened and saturated the photo.
The New Zealand Green-lipped Mussels have long been known for their ability to help keep joints supple and mobile. This is because they're a rich source of Omega-3 Polyunsaturated fatty acids including (Eicosatetranoic Acid). They are also a good source of naturally occurring glucosamine and chondroitin.
Where is it found? Green-lipped mussels are found in the oceans off New Zealand. In supplement form, green-lipped mussel is available as a lipid extract or a freeze-dried powder. Green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) is a New Zealand shellfish, from which an extract has been shown to be useful in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Green-lipped mussel inhibits inflammation in the body. Although inflammation is normal under certain conditions, consistent or excessive inflammation can result in pain and damage to the body, including the joints.
Green Lipped Mussels are harvested from unpolluted New Zealand sea waters and processed in their pure, natural and raw state, producing high quality material uncontaminated by bacteria, toxins, or heavy metals. The mussels are freeze dried to protect the enzymes. |

I have never seen these colors on mussels before. This is a very interesting shot and I like it a lot..
Very well done,
Thanks for posting
Je n'avais jamais vu de moules de cette couleur! Magnifique! Très intéressant, très bien photographié! En Belgique, les moules viennent de Zélande (Netherlands!) et elles sont noires et/ou grises. Merci pour le partage! Claude
PS: if you prefer, I can try to translate...but...
