I love watching these birds as they greet each other when one returns from fishing.

They display their affection by elaborately greeting each other in special rituals by caressing each other tenderly and performing affectionate greetings, like raising their heads skyward and tapping their bills together.

Then they twirl their necks around each other turning their heads to the right and then the left.

Gannet pairs may remain together over several seasons.

What a tender picture. These are lovely birds and you have captured a very special moment. Since they are back lit a little, I like the light through the one wing. I wonder if a little fill flash would have brought out more detail on the darker side of the bird?
