Wild mushrooms are tasty, but...
DON'T EAT THESE!!!!
The poisonous mushrooms of the Amanita family:

http://www.shroomery.org/8666/Killer-Mushrooms

There are many edible amanitas, but eating the wrong one can get you into heaps of trouble, not to mention the delirium, vomiting, diarrhoea, cramps, liver failure or death you may experience.

As knowledge is your best defense in avoiding Amanita poisoning when practicing wild mushroom gathering, it is wise to become familiar with all the parts of a mushroom.

The Amanita are primarily identified by the presence of a universal veil completely covering immature mushrooms, a volva or cup around the base, a partial veil which may be in the form of a ring on the upper stalk, free to slightly attached white/cream coloured gills, and a white spore print.

Unfortunately, some of these identifying characteristics are delicate and can be removed by rain, wind or animals. This is only a major problem if you are trying to eat the edible Amanitas. It is essential that all the identifying markers be in place to differentiate between deadly Amanitas and edible ones. If after all this, you still insist on eating Amanitas, then you're on your own!

Next time I post a photo of an Amanita muscaria I’ll post the symptoms – they are good bedtimes notes to read!!!

There is nothing more interesting thing to do than to read about horrible symptoms of poisoning before going to bed Janice :)))

This is a nice capture of this little dangerous one. Details and perspective are very good and it is not easy to photograph mushrooms as I never know where to do the focus :) Is it an insect that we see on it? Thanks,
Claudine

Hi Janice,
Stunnig capture!
I like so much the crisp and clear details got here.
The textures seen on the fungi are impressive, and still can be seen the vivid colour on top of it.
Very interesting and "useful" the info on your note.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

I won't, Janice.

Great sharpness, saturation and composition.

Congratulations on your note too.

Hello Janice,
Lovely post! I really like the "pose" of the mushroom. The clear frame with preety much nothing but needles and muchroom in it works great. I like the low POV and clear details too.
VERY WELL DONE!

Looks very much alike a poisonous mushroom, which we have in Sweden, too. Beautiful photo and so sharp and clear, Janice! So you have autumn now, yes, of course, if we have spring in the northern hemisphere...
Our ferns are coming now, I will take a picture tomorrow and post it to TN as a special greeting to you, Janice!
Take care
Monica
