Hi Janice,
A very interesting Mushroom species. Your notes are great. I'm glad to hear you didn't cook any for dinner :)
The colours and exposure are great. I like the soft lighting. TFS Janice...from way up north
Hi Janice
Very well done on this lovely low POV of the mushrooms. Seems like you were eating some dirt for this one.
Your composition is great and I like the fact that you included the two OOF one's in the back as well. This ensured a slightly larger crop which had the added benefit that one can see a little more of the environment. The colours are lovely and it is well enhanced by the soft light. The details are stunning and the only nit IMO is the fact that you did not remove the pine needles between the two mushrooms on the left. However, come to think about it, that might have damaged these frail fungi so, maybe you did better not to remove it.
Very good work and TFS.
Regards
Kia Ora

Wow, Janice. Those mushrooms look like they mean business.
They are real beauties, though, and you captured their details with perfect focus and exposure. I really like all the fine lines under the cap. Very unusual subjects. : )
TFS. : )

Hi Janice!
Nice, poisonous family :-) These mushrooms are very well known in Poland/Europe. They often grow in big circles - in Middle Ages folks believed that they're results of Devil's work and called them Devil's circles. Also very popular on Siberia - shamans used them to make communications with their gods. Very good and interesting post my friend!

I so wish I could find some of these to take a photo of. Your colors are wonderful, the sharpness and focus are good, the POV is very nice. I love the pine needles all around, very much like where my daughter lives with all the pine trees. Excellent work, TFS.

Hi Janice,
very well chosen point of view to show Amanita muscaria in a very elegant composition of delightful rhythm.
Excellent focus, the gradual falloff in sharpness creates a great depth. Marvellous soft and tender colours.
That pretty and useful species seems to be a cosmopolite. Would not have expected it to see it reported from New Zealand as well! People from New Zealand are famous for being fearless - did you present us here the reason for that? :)
Very beautiful contribution!
Thank you, and best regards,
Peter

Very nice family shot of this amanitas.
Composition is very nice and DOF this time is on the spot.
We have a lot of muscarias here, but rarely growing in the pines, as far as I know. This is an unusual view for me, so thanks very much for posting it.
Hope you are already recovered from your flu.

Kia ora Janice,
A great fungi shot which I didn't comment yet... So do now. Beautiful POV and sharpness, I like how You composed the row of fungi into the photo.
Felipe (extramundi) is right, this mushroom specie's very rarely growing in pine forest here in Europe. Except for this they seem like our Amanita muscarias. :) A cosmopolytan specie.
Tfs, best wishes from Hungary, László
