Karangahake Gorge

The Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway follows the old Paeroa-Waihi railway line through the gorge above the Ohinemuri River.It passes historical features associated with the gold fields. Beside the walkway can be seen the remains of mine buildings and machinery, including stamper batteries used to extract gold from quartz. The walkway gives a fascinating glimpse of the history of a major gold producing area that operated from 1875 to 1952.

I know where this is Pam, it is where I wanted to stop one day to photograph it but I didn't. This is good, I knew it would look great. Thank you, it saves me the 100+km trip down there.
The colours and details look great, the greens and blues are superb. Well done!

I was here about a year ago too Pam.
I followed the old tunnel through the hill there.
A very interesting area.
Didn't this gorge flood badly just last week ?

I just bought this lens (a few days ago) for my upcoming holiday to the Westcoast of Canada, so I am really paying attention to the photos on TN shot with this l-lens. Your picture looks great. Nice colors and good details. Do you like the lens? Well done & TFS!

Must be great place to rest Pam! I like this kind of areas full of plants and animals, with streams and rocks. Great perspective here!
