Karangahake Gorge

The Karangahake Gorge Historic Walkway follows the old Paeroa-Waihi railway line through the gorge above the Ohinemuri River. It passes historical features associated with the gold fields. Beside the walkway can be seen the remains of mine buildings and machinery, including stamper batteries used to extract gold from quartz. The walkway gives a fascinating glimpse of the history of a major gold producing area that operated from 1875 to 1952.

Karangahake Gorge is between Paeroa and Waihi, with access via State Highway 2. There are three points of entry to the walkway, at Karangahake; Owharoa Falls, off Waitawheta Road; and at the Waikino Historic Station and Visitor Centre.

Hello Scott,
Beautiful waterfalls! I like your composition and exposure... Centring works fine with me, and the soft silky texture of the water likewise! Good POV, colours and details... My issue is the frame, which in my taste is too dominant and stealing attention... The name is way too big! I'm rating the photograph here, not the presentation...

Hello Scott

Wow... magnificent shot. Perfectly exposed, composed and awesome shutter speed effect. No nits here. Congrats!

Stunning capture here, well exposed and good use of a slow shutter speed.

Really great shot, I love waterfalls and especially shots that have been slowed down to get the movement of the water and yours is a great shot with really natural colours. Well done.
