Hi,
I woke these Scaup up as they were snoozing on Lake Waikaremoana, just before sunset in early June this year.
Waikaremoana is a beautiful, peaceful place with loads of natural beauty and wildlife.
Scaup are a diving duck who prefer to live on deep inland lakes. Waikaremoana fits that criteria as it is over 250m in depth in places.
Hope you like the shot.
Regards
John. |

Nice one John.
I've only ever seen these by themselves before.
Waikaremoana and the Urewera National Park is an awesome place. Some wicked Beech forest up there.
Where are you now ?
