Lake Waikaremoana

Lake Waikaremoana is in the Te Urewera National Park,
a vast, remote region of forests and lakes spanning the Huiarau Range. The park's outstanding feature is the glorious Lake Waikaremoana ("sea of rippling waters"), a forest-girded lake with good swimming, boating, and fishing.

The lake is circled by a 50-km (31-mile) walking track; the three- to four-day walk is popular, and in the summer months the lakeside tramping huts are often heavily used.

Lake Waikaremoana means sea of rippling waters lies between ranges in the southeast of the park, about 160 kilometres southeast of Rotorua.

We stayed a night at Lake Waikaremoana in April while we were travelling around the East Cape of the North Island of New Zealand . I got up early in the morning we were there and the mist was rising off the water.

Lake Waikaremoana is a beautiful place and I loved seeing the trees and ferns and native bird life – I was in my element!!

Russell has suggested that I change it to B&W - so check out the workshop. What do you think?

Hi Janice

Great landscape shot - you really convey the majesty of the landscape here. The broken - hanging cloud adds a sense of mystery.

Hi Janice.
Very nice composition with the lake edge, water, mist around the hills and dry grasses against the green bush. Exposure and detail, all good.

Hi Janice,
Nice angle, well composed landscape picture.
Light seems to be harsh at time picture was taken, but you managed it very well.
Great shot.

Hi Janice, this is a lovely landscape scene, I wish I was there. A great POV and perspective on the vastness of the scene. You have caught good light and colours, all is crisp and clear. A fine composition. I am hoping to visit New Zealand later this year.

Hi Janice, nice photo, I like the way you have detailed the lake shore and trees with the ranges fading in back ground, but makes me wanting to see the rest of the lake

Hi Janice,
Nice landscape. I really want to go there :)
Good work!

Hi Janice
I quite like the angle you have taken this image from. But I see this image as a black and white.Convert it and you will see what I mean.

Wow Janice,

This is a super landscape. Fantastic. The composition is really good, and the whole picture is in focus. Well done.

Hi Janice,
Lovely capture of Waikaremoana.
I definitely prefer it in colour.
I love the Ureweras although I've only been there once.
I tramped up to Lake waikareiti (across the road) and over Mt Manuoha (the highest point in Te Urewera)
You might remember my photo of the Goblin Forest taken up there.
It was the most amazing forest I've ever seen.
Cheers, Steve

Beautiful. Definitely better in color - appears too flat in B/W.
Sounds interesting!. Sounds as if it should be in everyone's "need to visit" book! Bravo!

Hello Janice,
Fine landscape shot that looks like a wonderful place to visit.
This is an excellent composition with well placed wedge shapes locking into each other on the horizontal plane: wedge shaped cloudes, wedges of water, and wedges of land and cliffs together making up a fine pattern.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Janice. I agree with Ivan. I like all those triangular shapes. It looks like a wonderful place to visit.

Hello Janice,
Beautiful landscape.Well caught,framed and composed.I liked exposure,colors and clouds a lot.Have a great weekend!
TFS..:-)

Another stunning capture Janice.
Cecilia

Hello Janice,
Good contrast, there's not much color inherent to the scene, so maybe the B&W is an option..
The wide frame composition perfect for this one..
I like those low clouds hugging the sheer cliffs in the distance as well :)
The B&W workshop? Well, it makes it look like an old photo anyway ;}
Howard

Hello Janice,
a nice landscape, and you have captured the singular diffused light that is often on lakes at morning. I like contrast between water and green of the trees.
I understand your enthusiasm, ciao.
Violetta.

Hi Janice,
Wow! The more & more I see of New Zealand the more I want to visit it, it is full of beauty, like the image you have captured. I hope you have a spare room, I might show up on your door step someday. ;)

Hi Janice, great landscape with low laying cloud which gives nice atmosphere. I am seriously thinking of planning a 6 week trip to Australia and New Zealand next March/April. Very nice work.
