I caught this beautiful dragonfly feeding on the nectar of the lavendar flowers at a local herb farm.

I have cropped and sharpened the image.

A great shot Sue, but I think this is actually a damselfly rather than a dragon fly. You need this confirmed though (there are plenty of experts here happy to help ;-) ).
I think the only problem I have with this shot is that it isn't quite straight so I have done a quick ws for you, hope you don't mind.
Well captured and thanks for posting.

I've never seen one with closed wings! great capture!

This one has got a nice background.
Normally you do not find them with flowers as you do with butterflies.
Nice POV. But I have some reservations about compo. I would rather go further close to the insect without thinking much about capturing a lot of flowers. Only the flowers where it rests is enough for my kind of background for this dragonfly.
TFS.

Excellent shot.. The focusing is very good, as well as the composition withe the flowers in the background... Well done!

Just beautifull. a very complete photo with rich colours. Thanks for sharing.

I love the way the flowers stems lean to the left, and the way the dragonfly seems to be just barely hanging on. Very nice composition and sharpness, well done.

Hi Sue,
but now i saw this beautiful photo.
The lavendar is so phantastic, what pretty colours - and the damselfly is the highlight there. I've never known, that they like lavendar so you can find them there.
In these days I'm addicted to dragonflies.
Those insects are so interesting.
What a wonderful world we live in.
Bye, have a nice weekend
