Webbed Feet

Birds with webbed feet can paddle through the water and walk on mud. As a Cormorant pushes its feet back, the web spreads out to provide more surface to thrust the water. Then, as the Cormorant draws its foot forward and brings the toes together, the web folds up so there is less resistance to the water.

Bonjour,
C'est curieux de voir un oiseau avec des pattes palmées sur un arbre !
Bonne journée.

Hello Pam,
A beautiful image!
The bird gives you a really good pose, and is captured with fine details in an attractive composition...
Close-up details are well taken care of, including the blurry back!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pam,
Solid shot with excellent feather detail. Perfect exposure and strong composition.
Cheers
Paul

Muy buenas Pam
La verdad es que nos presentas a un cormoran en modo blanquito y al que no estoy acostumbrado a ver, ya que los nuestros son todos negritos.
Buena captura en tu estilo, mis felicitaciones.
Un saludo
Jorge

Hi Pam,

Never seen this species before. It looks like a rather young one but I can be mistaken. Colors and sharpness are okay. The background is a bit disturbing but nothing to worry about.
TFS.
regards,
Zeno.

Hi Pam

Another splendid shot from you!
The title really fits here, for they are so very nicely visible and also make a great contrast with that old branch the cormorant is standing on.
The details everywhere are crispy-clear and the natural colors are superbly saturated.
The DOF is also impeccable - keeping the subject perfectly in full focus while blurring the BG wonderfully.
All-in-all an outstanding composition.

Bravo and TFS

Hi Pam, it's really nice to see a New Zealand Cormorant, much more attractive than our Cormorants in the UK. This is a fine portrait showing the profile of the bird. Nice and sharp with v good DOF. Colours and tones really good showing fine feather detail. Great composition.

HiPam,
great shot, never seen it before and as always so crisp and clear.
Congratulations
Viv

Nice find to have it in this branch. It makes for a very good composition. Not sure I have seen this colour of cormorant before. TFS

Hi Pam,
An outstanding shot on this Cormorant. The light quality is nice and soft. Beautiful colors and sharp detail in the plumage. Well controled DOF has a nice OOF backround. Flawless comp. and framing. Well done again!
Scott

You nailed the exposure on this one the whites are perfect and the detail in the underside has great midtones making the plumage really stand out! Nice Shot!
