[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Whilst visiting my in-laws farm yesterday I came across a number of Panaeolus mushrooms.
Some of them were readily identifiable, but after extensive research,I am still in doubt about the true identity of these particular ones.
Some sites list them as Panaeolus sphinctrinus, which I don't believe they are. They have also been called Panaeolus semiovatum, but after cross referencing I don't think this is them either.
I've seen the name 'Shiny Hay Cap' applied to Panaeolus mushrooms, which describes these quite well, but the picture I found that most resembled these was one of a species called Panaeolus goosensiae.
Most Panaeolus have several things in common.A fairly thin stipe or stem,a campanulate or bell shaped cap and a liking for cow dung.
These were growing out of cow dung in a grassy paddock (meadow). The light was not very suitable so I lifted the cow pat and placed it at the foot of this tree.
Most Panaeolus contain traces of psychoactive chemicals, psilocybin and tryptamine but usually not in sufficient quantities to have the same effects as species of psilocybe, stropharia, and conocybe etc.
Still, they are very attractive little fungi, don't you think?
I hope you enjoy looking at these little beauties.

Remember - you will be look as those fungi if you would watch tv as much as you do now :-) Great composition and alien subjects Steve! Dark mood, It could be illustration of one of Stephen King's books about alien invasion!

Hey Steve, Running late..

Hmmm, cow dung. Interesting note, Steve, I will have to stop having my breakfast while I sit at the computer.
It is a great shot and you have handled the lighting (as well as the dung) quite well. Good image, the caps seem metallic don't they? Thank you for sharing.

Silver Bells, Silver Bells, It is the sound of Christmas, or words to this affect comes to my mind. Jim Reeves was the artist. Now this states my age nicely too, not so, Steve. Anyway, this is realy beautiful and the silver colour is very well rendered. As for shooting birds, well, mine often also get chased away by guys who cannot wait 1 minute. Take the roadkill just off the verge of the road, he should come back to it.
