Hi Colin,
Welcome To Trek Nature.
Lovely colourful shot for an opener.
Nice and clear and well composed.
I used to grow lots of these flowers in Pirongia,and photographed monarchs on them too.
I was living in Te Awamutu a few years ago,then moved to Pirongia for three years after that.
I moved South here to Punakaiki nearly a year ago,but many of my earlier TN photos were taken on Mt Pirongia.There is some amazing stuff in the bush up there,especially fungi.The Mangakara loop walk from the forest park HQ has some amazing photographic material.Also,the Track up from O'Shea Rd is awesome.Lots of native orchids etc in the spring.At night time there are some amazing insects to be found too.
Have a look at some of my earlier shots. You'll see what I mean.
