HI well its been along time since i last posted as ive been so bizzy.Here is one of 107 native New Zealand Copper skinks(Cyclodina aenea) ive played a part in saving to find out more on that story please look at http://www.nzlizardzone.com/norton%20road%20rescue/norton%20road%20rescue.html

The copper skink is nz's most smallest lizard and one of the most commonest skinks yet as time goes by more and more are being killed by cats mice rats and most of all by people as these small critters are over looked as native wild life and they are on the road to extinction along with alot more nz reptiles that are also over looked in the wild.
The copper skink comes with some nice coulours mosty a bright copper stripe down its side and soft brown but can be dark brown to blackish and with flecks of black and white over its body under its bodt its throat my be spotted and is more paler that its belly it can be shades of reds to bright yellows and some times has a orange tail looking like its regrowen but the pattens show it hasint.

Hi Gareth,
again it's a sad story behind the picture. I think most people would call this one a lizard. I tried to take pictures of skinks as well in the past but since they're so fast I never really succeeded. Do you mean there's only 107 specimens left? Damn right they deserve to be protected. I will definitly visit the website. TSF, Jacob
