Favolaschia pustulosa

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is the White Pore Fungus that I mentioned in my last post, the native species of Favolaschia.
Favolaschia Pustulosa is found in mixed forest throughout New Zealand, often on Tawa trees.
I thought I had previously posted this photo on TN,but after searching extensively could not find it.
I have had to reduce the light levels considerably here, and have reduced the blue factor as well, since shooting upwards towards the light caused some overexposure and bluish cast.
I hope you like this shot.

Hi Steve,
Lovely shot, very aesthetic photo. I like the you manage light in this shot, maximizing effect of light on this transparent fungi with very interesting patterns. Great DoF and PoV. Superb shot.

Beautiful mushroom, your Lordship, I wouldve used a fill in flash for the underexposed front part. I like the diagonal POV and the honey-comb texture.
THE CRITIQUE SCALE
Composition & POV : 10
Sharpness & DOF : 9
Light & color: 8
Creativity & Originality: 10

With a name like that, Favolaschia pustulosa, I had to see what it was!! It's quite attractive, and I can't say I have seen it up north here. Looks good with teh light behind it. TFS Steve,

this is the light fantastic for me..it could be the most rare of fungi and not mean a thing but the presentation using translucence by way of backlight makes the shot eye catching
as for exposures..i think this is balanced well since there are shadow areas to compensate for the upper bright areas..
the central subject is more important than the environs..imho
cheers
