[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a colony of one of the common species of Umbrella Mosses found in forests throughout New Zealand.
They are usually found in shady damp locations and often dry out in warmer months to be later revived when it becomes moist again.
They can be a truly wonderful sight on a ridge with sunlight filtering through them.
I believe this particular species is Hypnodendron Colensoi.

Hi Steve,
Very interesting plant species. I like to see 'the umbrellas' of this plants. Deeper DoF may be better for these massive objects.

Hello Steve,
I love mosses and lichens and this is a very beautiful and interesting species. It's a pity about the blur which you could have avoided by using a higher f/ number.

Hello Steve,
Amazing mosses. I feel like watching ancient forest from above :-)
Best greetings,
Michal Grabowski

Hi Steve,
What a beautiful photo. I've never seen this kind of moss before, it almost looks like miniature trees. Beautiful green colors and the wetness of the moss really adds to the stunningness. A small pitty that the ones in the front are OOF.
TFS,
Niek

I like the slight up-hill view of this shot Steve. I'm a big fan of Mossy backgrounds. Lighting and composure are nicely displayed.
