[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My previous post of an albatross (black browed) was in terms of technically post processing a disaster: full of dust, unsharp (however the slide itself was sharp) and a lot of noise. It tried to to better this time, again from a color slide, but it was a lot of work to polish this picture.

1. Used the magic wand to select the bird
2. Expanded selection by 5 pixels
3. Inverse selction
4. Noise reduction (3 times)
5. Removed spots and dust with th espot healing brush tool
6. again inverse selection and sharpen the bird
7. Added just a little contrast and brightness
8 resize for TN
It took a lot of shifting in the levels, and I'm still not sure what's the best settings. But this time the result was more acceptable

I saw this wandering albatross while being out at sea for work some 300 seamiles east of Wellington. On a quiet morning this third calander year bird crossed our way and I was able to shoot this picture.

Hi Jacob, it is a pity we can't see the slide itself. But your shot here is good, and we don't often get to see these albatross on TN, so I am pleased to see it. They are beautiful birds, so large and they fly so wonderfully. Thank you for sharing,
Janice

Hi Jacob,
Delightful capture of an amazing bird. You have managed an excellent composition. Your PP is good, however on my screen I'm seeing a slight magenta cast through the image. I've posted a WS to show my colour correction. BTW I'm working on a calibrated screen, which makes life a bit easier.
Cheers
Paul

Hello Jacob,

Under those circumstances you did a good job. I must agree with Paul who did a nice workshop on your picture to remove that magenta thing... The other thing IMHO is that the bird is too centered within the picture. Nice try and TFS,

Michel
