Spring Mushrooms

I have no idea what this mushrooms is called.

I found about 8 mushrooms growing on our lawn yesterday.

They are usually found in early autumn, after the first rains at the end of summer.

We’ve had a lot of rain over winter, but I was surprised to see these growing now it is Spring. Our temperatures this week have been about 18-20C, and it’s been quite sunny too.

Mushrooms and toadstools are the reproductive formations of some types of fungi. There are many different types found in New Zealand’s forests, and also in fields and parks, even gardens and lawns.

Fungi were once thought to be part of the plant kingdom, but now they are considered to be a separate Kingdom or phylum.

Ah, it's spring time in your country, Janice! We northerners get a bit confused about it.
Thanks for your kind words on my recent butterfly image.
This is an intersting mushroom growing in your garden. It must be tiny, going by the ground level grass etc. The fungus has interesting colours on it. The image is very sharp and crisp.
TFS and best regards.
Ram

Hi Janice,

The mushroom is sharp and stands out well from the background grass. We had our first rains this weekend of about 10 mm but it is still dry and brown here.
Since being on TN I have more interest in different things such as fungi, insects etc so TFS.

Hello Janice,
An excellent capture of a mushroom growing on your lawn taken with fine sharpness among the blades of grass. Strange that you should have your spring mushrooms while we have reach the peak of our autumn mushroom season and soon it is time to look for those that we relish most, a species that grows in deep shade.
TFs this fine image of a totally unknown species for me: perhaps Steve can give you the ID.
All the best,
Ivan

Well lit and great detail... don't you just love to find such treasures in your own yard... makes me not to want to mow the grass... ;) Actually I would love a yard filled with wildflowers, mushrooms, etc. TFS your treasure find Janice. :)

Hello Janice,
Lucky you having spring and summer ahead of you! Yes, strange to see a spring fungus but nonetheless a fine specimen nicely captured. Excellent sharpness and fine light and colours.
TFS and cheers, Ulla

Hello Janice,
I think it's autumn as it is raining and very windy:-).
I can't identify this mushroom.
I like its texture. Good depth of field and point of view.
TFS
