You have highlighted the big feet feature of this Coot very well in this picture, Janice.
The image as a whole is wonderfully sharp, colourful and crisp.
The watery BG also suits this capture.

Very difficult fellow to photograph these fellows. Not 'cause of his big feet:-).
But because of all these blacks and whites. You cannot overexpose nor underexpose...
Hey, you did pretty well, Janice:-).
Good depth of field as well.

There is rarely a mistake in nature, leaving me to wonder what was the purpose? some of Darwinian believe think we had tails which we didn't use so there is now only a small bony end to our spies....and since I wasn't here at the start of time..(I don't remember:->)...there certainly must be good use made of it unless it was created this way just for us to wuestion..and that I do well....

A fine image Janice...quite unusual and kinda cute in a way...

What a beautiful shot of these COOT. And then red eyes. Great !. A very good compo, whith fine details and natural colors. With here big lobed toes they can walk over the leaves of aquatic plants in the search for food. Than ks for sharing. Regards and TFS BOB

Sounds like a perfect description of me.Big footed coot.
The POV is excellent.They certainly look ungainly on land.
Wonderful sharpness and detail.
I chased around some American coots this summer,but got nothing remotely as good as this.
Nicely done.

I really like the light on that body feathers.
It brings out such subtle nuances of the gry/black theme.
A funny posture to boot.
Coots do have the most interesting and ungainly feet.
Great focus as well.
