Hello Janice,
This is a species that I have wnted but not yet succeeded in photographing. You made a fine capture of this black Oystercatcher with pretty good sharpness and DOF from this back POV. Great he turned his head a little for the shot.

Great shot of this Oyster Catcher. You did a great job getting the eye and beak in focus from a rear shot. :) I think you could add a tad bit more contrast to get the color to pop a bit.

He-he-he..you must have a few of those up..oooops down there Janice....Are they as common as our gulls are here? we call ours seagulls, not this variety, but the ones which we have and they are never near a sea that I know of...but they are of a temperament that allows us to get a bit closer..I think, that THEY think their stature must be recognized by us...so we can every so often...as you did here..get a good image...

Hi Janice,

A very striking presentation of an oystercatcher. The rich, black plumage, and the bright red eye, with the carrot orange beak really make the image standout. Great POV also. I noticed a very minor white spot on the right side, just above the top of the right leg. Since TN permits minor touch ups, I would probably have removed that mark. Completely minor, however, and certainly doesn't detract from your great shot. TFS.
