Hello Janice !
Great picture of this very young butterfly. When I look at the mepty chrysalis, I wonder how he fittied in, looks so small ! :-) Anyways, it must have been wonderful to watch him emerge. Excellent sharpness and detailes, beautiful colors, and I also like the high vertical composition. The BG, completely blurred with neutral grey color, makes the butterfly stand out very nicely. Very well done !

Hi Janice!

You are so lucky to be able to catch this youngster! Indeed, the colours are fabulous and the fact that one still can see the chrysalis adds to the value of the picture. I also like your reflection on the fact that a couple of minutes before this picture the butterfly still was a prisoner of the chrysalis. Nature's wonders...

Very nice photo of this Monarch emerging from its chrysalis!
It's really great that you found one and were able to set up a room for it to hatch so that you could capture it's emergence so well.
The details here are great and the vertical composition works great for this pose.
I like to see it with its wings completely stretched and fully colored :)
The only thing i might have changed is perhaps the POV - i would have tried to be more parallel with its wings in order to get a side angle...but that's a matter of taste.
Anyway, lovely work.

Fantastic serie. Monarch is very young but looks like its wings are well developed. Colours are also look good and natural. I like your workshop - bedroom full of butterflies seems to be great idea :-)

I like the POV here Janice.
Instead of taking the newly emerged Monarch square with the wings, you chose to view it from the front with the wings seen at an angle. The small aperture gives a great DOF with fine sharpness so that we get to see as much of this butterfly as possible in one shot.
The neutral BG of the studio is ideal too.

That's a better shot of this beauty. I like the colors a bit pale. It's that possible. When I take a look to the next Monarch the colors a much better. They are rich. Anyway you give me the answer I ask in the previous shot. Well done
