This is a real little guy. He is a froglet, as he still has his tail attached. Thanks for looking.

Life Cycle of a Frog

1. They usually begin life in water as eggs. A ball of jelly surrounds each of the eggs, which are compiled together in a clump called spawn.

2. After 10 days the tadpole hatches and wiggles out of the jelly ball. These tadpoles breathe through gills that are on the outside.

3. Gradually the back legs begin to appear and the outside gills begin to disappear. One week after the legs form the tadpole develops lungs and can breathe our air.

4. Then in 10 to 12 weeks the tadpole develops front legs. After its front legs form the tadpole does not eat, but absorbs its tail for food.

5. At about three and a half months it becomes a froglet and can eat small bugs. It now spends most of its time out of the water.

6. Once the frog finishes growing and has lost its tail, it is considered an adult frog. Frogs are amphibians that can live on land or water.

Hola Pam.- Muy bella foto la que hoy nos presentas aqui. Muy nitida y con colores muy naturales. El reflejo de sus ojos en el agua le da un gran valor.
Saludos Luis52.

Hi Pam,
Excellent catch. Looks like one of those split lens photos where you are half under the water and half out. You've captured the slimy texture well.
Cheers
Paul

Very cool picture, Pam. : )
How did you do it?

Hello Pam,
This is a fine macro of this little guy, the mucus and water cover making the froglet look quite primeval.
This is well composed and sharp and the reflection below the lillypad is a fine touch.
You must have had to lie low to get such an angle.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hi Pam

Great presentation and lovely DOF and colours. Love the reflection also - a shot I would be proud of.

Hello Pam!

Great photo - it looks like taken from one of David Attenborough's movies about tropical forests. Composition is superb - reflected frog looks great. I like green tones and lots of water around.

Hello Pam,
This is an original frog's picture. I like everything about it. It looks like it is stuck in glue :) This reflection is great and so are composition, details and exposure. Well done with interesting notes. Thanks,
Claudine

Not only is this a great shot but shows part of the life stage frogs go through in their metamorph. I really like the low POV in this one. :)

Superb detail, and excellent bright colours. Thanks for posting.

A lot of frogs in TN, but it is the first one I remember in this interesting early stage, you chose the note very well to document this beautiful and interesting post. I like the reflection, it is a great bonus. Thanks and best regards.

Missed this very good one...
I do like for instance the reflection.
Very well composed too...
TFS Pam.
