[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The tikapu, or Mount Cook lily (Ranunculus lyalli), is the worlds largest buttercup. It is an endemic plant of New Zealand. Found in the Mount Cook National Park and other alpine areas of South Island including the area around Arthurs Pass. It flowers from November to January. This was taken along the Dobson Nature Trail near Arthur's Pass. As you can see it has been snowing although "summer" was only a few days away.

Hello Merryl,
beautiful flowers, dramatic view.
Pulling in the landscape by use of wide angle does a very good job to show the natural habitat as well as the plant with sufficiently good detail. Slower shutter speed would have allowed a smaller aperture, providing an even better depth of field for the flowers in the foreground. But even here at f/3.1, depth of field is very good.
Thank you for this contribution that takes me down under to an excitingly familiar looking place!
