Same cute duckling as posted yesterday, only he/she went for a swim to clean the dust and dirt from those big webbed feet. Thanks for looking.

Duck Facts
• A male duck is called a drake, a female is called a duck. Babies are called ducklings.
• Ducks are related to geese and swans. The duck is the smallest of them all and have shorter necks and wings and a stout body.
• Ducks can live from 2-12 years, depending on the species.
• Ducks have webbed feet, which act like paddles. A duck waddles instead of walking because of its webbed feet.
• Ducks' feet have no nerves or blood vessels. This means ducks never feel the cold, even if they swim in icy cold water.
• Ducks provide us with eggs, meat and feathers.
• Ducks' feathers are waterproof. There is a special gland that produces oil near the tail that spreads and covers the outer coat of feathers. Beneath this waterproof layer are fluffy and soft feathers to keep the duck warm.
• Ducks keep clean by preening themselves with their beaks, which they do often. They also line their nests with feathers plucked from their chest.

Oh, a little South Island duckling. Definitely a cuty. Nice capture Pam, and I like the rings of water surrounding the little fellow. Good colours and details.
I've gotta find some ducklings soon, I see yours and Erichs, and all I can find it black swans and no babies!

Hi Pam,

Very cute and good shot. Sharp details, good light/exposure and great POV. I would have chosen to have more space on the left and less on the right, but other than that this is a very nice photo. Well done & TFS!

Regards,
Pieter

Pam, it's indeed cute, beautiful and lovely.

Excellent contrast, vivid colors, great sharpness.

A pleasure to check. The blue shades upon the water is really amazing. Besides, the reflection and the effect upon this same water.

Congratulations.

Smile now, critique later :-)

Lovely light. Very sharp. The textures and colors of the water is very nice. Subject placement could be improved by placing it a bit lower and to the right. But then you would have cut the reflection. Maybe zoomed out a bit... It's still a lovely photo though.

Still a cutie, Pam! I really like the detail on the fluff. The ripples in the water really add to the composition by showing the swimming motion. Very nicely done! :-) Thanks for giving this little fellow an encore!

Hello Pam, I agree with your title, too cute! :)

She is so lovely and she seems to be smiling, and the blue water pops out.

Very well seen. Take care, Yan
