The southern sea north of Christchurch in aup to 3000 m deep only 3 Kilometers off the rocky shore.
Humpback whales 15 m - 16 m of lenght and up to 40 tons of weight are able to feed here all year long, because the cold water always is full of micro organisms. The whales can reach 40-50 years of age if not detected by so called 'scientists' from Japan who still hunt, torture and kill whales and dolphins as if the had a right to do this. No human has this right!

Great position of the whale. I like the mini waterfall. Pretty light. Excellent framing. Bit noisy but understandable for a photo taken 11 years ago.
