Royal Albatross are abundant in Kaikoura. This photo was made on a boat during a whales observation experience in Kaikoura. (very exciting experience).

I've posted this one in TrekEarth first, but i think that this picture should be on it's right place on Trek Nature :o)

You are lucky to see a real albatross, we only have a stuffed one at the museum we afectionately call albert. There is a campaign to save these great birds I believe, and we had a link set up to see the real ones in NZ when albert went on display. Lovely to see this photo.
