Cheetah

Size: length - 44-59 inches, tail - 23-31 inches.

Weight: 77- 143 pounds.

Habitat and Range: open woodlands and grasslands in Africa and the Middle East.

Scientists believe that cheetahs originated in southern Asia. A very few can still be found there and in the Middle East, but today most cheetahs live on the vast plains of Africa.

The cheetah is the fastest animal on land, reaching speeds of sixty to seventy miles an hour over short distances.

The gestation period for the female is three month after which three to six cubs are born.

Cheetahs usually live alone. Once in a while males will travel with two or three other cheetahs. The cheetahs communicate by marking trees, termite mounds, and shrubs with their waste.

Life span: ten to twelve years in the wild.

The Future of the Cheetah: The world's population of cheetah is between 9,000 and 12,000 animals and the Namibian population is estimated at 2,500, which is the largest free-living population in one country. The cheetah population in North America is stabilizing. Death rates have been reduced and birth rates have increased. Although problems with survival and reproduction have characterized the cheetah for years, these problems are being reduced.

Good details, nice light and colours.
Well done my friend.

Out of :-)

Pam,
Such a perfect pose here, I would like to take a good close-up like this! Even if you were zoomed all the way in, it appears as a close-up. Very good composition and expressio on the cheetah's face and eyes.
Very fine image!
